Ethiopian Yirgacheffe

Medium Light Roast
Ethiopian Yirgacheffe

Originating in Ethiopia, the birthplace of the Arabica coffee plant, this coffee has been growing wild in the forests of the Southwestern Highlands for centuries. According to legend, coffee was first discovered in Ethiopia in the 9th century by a goat-herder called Kaldi. After observing his goats' hyper behaviour upon consuming coffee cherries, he decided to taste them himself. Subsequently, a monk encountered Kaldi, sampled the cherries, and brought them back to his monastery. The monk then roasted and brewed the coffee, sharing it with fellow monks who found it helped them remain awake during their late-night prayers. Since then, coffee has been cherished for its stimulating qualities.

The washed Yirgacheffe coffee stands out as one of the finest Highland-grown coffees available, known for its sweetness and rich fruit tones of rosehip, lemon, blueberry, dark chocolate, apple cider, and cherry blossom.

This was Alice's favourite, with its tea-like qualities... light and floral. Perfect for coffee connoisseurs and a cuppa with yer ma!
